The Rwanda Field Epidemiology and Laboratory Training Program (RFELTP) steering committee spent a week in Zimbabwe interacting and learning from their counterparts at ZimFETP and supporting partners. The delegation from the University of Rwanda was led by Prof Aline Umbuye, Dean School of Public Health and Professor Joseph NTAGANIRA, Coordinator RFELTP. Also in the group was Miss Peace KINANI; RFELTP Manager, Albert Ndagijima who is a mentor with RFELTP and Dr Simon Antara, Director of Programs with AFENET. The ZIMFETP team was led by Professor Tshimanga (Program Director), Ms Juru (Senior Assistant Field Coordinator), Mr S Chiwanda (Assistant Field Coordinator) and Dr Gombe (Regional Technical Coordinator, AFENET). The purpose of the visit was a look and learn experience for the Rwandese inorder to benefit and learn from the best practices and Innovations employed by the ZIMFETP which received TEPHINET accreditation in 2018. The group met and interacted with key stakeholders in the Ministry of Health and Child Care, University of Zimbabwe and programme mentors both from Government and private organisations. At the end of the visit, the Rwandese highlighted that the strong alumni component in the Zimbabwe program and the ownership plus support by the Ministry Of Health and Child Care were key observations they would take home and try to implement.
